The inspiration behind “à la casse”: memories, consciousness and sustainability
It all started with a postcard hanging on the wall at my grandparents' house, showing stacked cars. This image had a strong impact on me as a child. Many years later, when the card had disappeared and the house had changed owners, it remained etched in my memory.
I have this postcard and it was the starting point for this collection.
The work of Arman, the artist behind the work on this postcard, reveals the imprint of objects on time, their accumulation and the traces they leave, even when forgotten. This reflection inspired me and resonates with the values I transmit through Luce Wear.
An inspiration charged with emotions and meaning
I wanted to translate the world of car scrapyards first of all through the brand's iconic graphic patterns, using stacked pieces of cars, but also through upcycled materials that this world evokes for me. Red crumpled wool, electric blue, metallic velvets.
Raw textures and bold colors that recall the aesthetics of cars from the 80s.
These graphic and poetic places reflect our relationship with objects: we consume them, then we abandon them, but they continue to carry stories and a certain beauty, even in their dilapidation.
Car scrapyards, with their organized chaos, offer an infinite creative field. This duality between raw aesthetics and profound message is at the heart of this collection.
A reflection on time and sustainability
Arman's work was a spark for me to think about our relationship with objects. Our possessions, whether utilitarian or symbolic, often end up forgotten or thrown away, but mark the world well beyond their immediate usefulness. "À la casse" questions this overconsumption while promoting a responsible and thoughtful approach.
Each piece in this collection, whether it's a sweatshirt, a pair of jogging pants or a coat, has been designed to last. I seek to create timeless clothes, with carefully selected materials and patterns that tell a story.
A celebration of memories and matter
This collection is a celebration of memories and matter. It tells a personal and universal story: that of our deep connection with objects and the traces they leave. With “À la casse”, I hope to offer clothes that are not only worn, but also loved and passed on.
